AN UP AND COMING business in Chard has a chance to be crowned at an awards night this year.

Knowle Meadow Camping has been named as a finalist in the upcoming Bristol, Bath and Somerset Awards, where the winner will be crowned on December 5, to find out if they have won bronze, silver, or gold.

Knowle Meadow has 10 pitches which can accommodate tents and campervans (up to 6m).

The price range for Knowle Meadow varies depending on whether you are camping or glamping, but prices are noted to start from £40 a night for pitches and £120 a night for accommodation.

The camping business has been nominated for two awards this year which are 'Camping and carravaning park of the Year' and 'New Tourism Business of the Year'.

The Chard campsite faces tough competition in both categories.

Knowle Meadow Campsite is up against three businesses for the New Tourism Business of the Year award, with Hadspen Glamping, Castle Cary, being one of the finalists.

The other two finalists are Noah’s, a seafood restaurant, and Sparks department store, which are both in Bristol.

It is between Knowle Meadow and Mendip Basecamp, in Churchill, for the camping and caravanning park of the year award.

Speaking after hearing that they were put forward as a finalist for the upcoming Bath and Somerset awards, a spokesperson from Knowle Meadow Camping said: "We’re delighted to find out we are FINALISTS in the Bristol, Bath & Somerset Tourism Awards for both Campsite of the Year and New Tourism Business of the Year!

"The award ceremony is on 5 December and we can’t wait What a way to round off our first full season!

"Fingers crossed!"
