HATCH Beauchamp C of E Primary School hosted a Macmillan coffee morning and bake sale on Friday, September 27, and raised over £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The children and their families baked a vast array of homemade cakes, cupcakes, cookies and a selection of other goodies just for the occasion.

Members of the school and the wider local community gathered together in the school hall on Friday morning and enjoyed eating all the sweet treats on sale and drinking the teas and coffees served by the Friends of Hatch Beauchamp School volunteers.

The school asked for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support at the event and, in a little over an hour and a half, had raised over £200.

Tim Harnett, lead teacher said: "It was wonderful to see the school and local community mingling together to support such a great cause.

"We are a beautiful small village school with a very big heart, and that shines through in that total."

Melanie Sekules, Parent Volunteer said: "I was so impressed with the effort that everyone put into baking such beautiful cakes, with one being an absolute stunning centre piece. It was lovely to see the reaction of the children seeing the tables all laid out and they definitely felt very proud of themselves and their parents. It was amazing to see the hall so busy with so many people, and such a lovely atmosphere. That alone made me feel really proud and the amount we raised in just an hour and a half was.....excuse the pun, the icing on the cake"

Alisha Webber, other parent volunteer said: "It was a really brilliant atmosphere and really exciting to be able to get the children engaged and also be part of it and understanding and helping raising money for a good cause."
