Businesses on Station Road say they have been left without power for two days, following an outage by National Grid.
National Grid are currently carrying out underground maintenance opposite, The Shrubbery Hotel on Station Road said they have been having power issues as well as other businesses and homes on Station Road while the work was undertaken.
They said that they had no power until 4pm on Wednesday (July 31) and Tuesday until 3:30pm. The hotel set up generators to be able to stay open while the work was carried out.
A spokesman for National Grid Electricity Distribution said: “Essential maintenance took place yesterday to overhaul a substation on Ilminster’s Station Road.
“This work was planned and affected one nearby business, a hotel, which was notified in advance that electricity supplies would be disrupted between 9.30am and 3.30pm, and made plans accordingly.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this important upgrade to the town’s electricity network.”
