RAMA Life officially opened its new site at Frogmary Green Farm, West Street, South Petherton on Friday.

An open day for the public started at 11am and finished at 6pm on July 19. The premises were officially opened at midday by newly elected local MP, Adam Dance.

Visitors will be able to meet the team, ask questions, learn about the holiday club and find out about the term-time provisions that are available.

They will be able to look around the premises (inside and out) and there will be some activities available for children or young people to try such as colouring, outdoor toys, etc.

A spokesman said: "We are expecting some of the young people visiting on the day may be anxious, so the aim is for a calm and chilled event rather than busy and noisy."

Rama Life is an alternative education and holiday club provision, started in January 2020 by the CEO Jenn Hodge. It works with young people, parents and schools in the Somerset, Dorset and Devon areas.

Initially offering just a small holiday club, Rama Life now provides year-round support to young people – with various educational groups running in term time and a very popular holiday club.

Rama Life is working to address the mental health crisis in young people, the high absentee rates in schools.

Taking permanent residence in the purpose-built education classroom at Frogmary Green Farm, will enable Rama Life to further develop the current support it provides to young people and the opportunity to introduce new activities, after school enrichment clubs and educational groups.
