A new app Neverspoons, is a free-to-download app that maps out the independent pubs in the UK.
With the England Football team through to the finals on Sunday (July 14) against Spain, I'm sure these drinking establishments will also have the match on the big screen. You can even get a pint and a spot of Sunday lunch during while watching the game, what could be better!
Neverspoons is free to download and is available on the Android Play Store and Apple Store. The name is a pun on the pub chain Wetherspoons and recongises independently owned pubs to give smaller pubs a boost.
It works by showing the user where the nearest Wetherspoons is and then showing the independent pubs around it.
In 2018 The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) warned that 18 drinking establishments in the UK were going out of business every week and the pub trade has faced even more difficult times since before the pandemic.
Wetherspoon has 875 pubs and 58 hotels in the UK and Republic of Ireland and about 44,000 employees.
Four Pubs are registered in Chard, The Dolphin Hotel in Fore Street, The Happy Return on the A30, Kings Head in the High Street and Eagle Tavern.
Villagers of Tatworth have the Olde Poppe Inn on Axminster Road. Chardstock have the George Inn.
Five pubs shown on the map in Crewkerne is Royal Oak, King William Inn in Barn Street, George Hotel, Crooked Swan and Bar5.
