Chard charities have benefited from the generosity of the Inner Wheel Club of Chard, thanks to funds raised through their recent activities.

Representatives from Chard First Responders, Chard Area Youth Committee, Chard Guides and Chard Ladies Rugby received donations.

They are particularly keen to support groups providing safe environments for young people to learn new skills and encourage personal development, these youngsters are our future.

Funds were raised through a variety of initiatives such as raffles, bingo night, cake sales, second-hand books, and a recent plant sale at The Original Factory Shop.

Additionally, a significant community event, the Chard Community Showcase and a printed directory offered information about local clubs and activities.

President Penny Herrick outlined her plans for the coming year during the Handover evening in July.

With a diverse calendar of speakers, excursions, new projects and activities, the aim is to enjoy their volunteer work and continue aiding the community.

Donations were also made to the Chard Carnival Club, The Lords Larder, Vision for Asia and The Book Bus charity.

The Inner Wheel Clubs of GB&I procured a Book Bus, adorned with Quentin Blake illustrations and has been dispatched to Zambia.
