IF YOU find yourself at a loose end this weekend, you might want to try some of these woodland walks around Chard.
Take the family, or the dog for a long walk around the wood, as well as boasting a vast and picturesque countryside, north Norfolk is home to several beautiful woodland walks.
If you are looking for somewhere new to walk your dog or a romantic route to take your partner for a Sunday stroll, here are five of the best woods to walk around in north Norfolk.

1. Chard Reservoir in Chard Town is run by South Somerset District Council and has 25.03 acres of woodland to explore. Five key habitats are found Chard Reservoir Nature Reserve, wet woodland,species rich hedgerows, lowland hay meadows,reed beds and eutrophic standing water the remaining woodland supports many woodland birds. Some old trees provide natural nest sites.
2. Herne Hill is a privately owned wood in Ilminster with 28 acres of woodland owned by the local council, Ilminster Town Council. Well used by locals for dog walking bird and wildlife evident and a Badger sett.
3. Dommett Wood is another privately owned wood with 33.26 acres to explore. This reserve consists of mature beech and oak woodland with small areas of heath. Dommett Wood is close to Buckland St Mary, around half a mile off the A303, near the Eagle Tavern junction.
4. Brook Green Common has 2.89 acres ready for residents to explore this weekend.
