A CROP fire which broke out near Taunton this week was extinguished thanks to the help of local farmers.
Crews from Taunton Fire Station's Green Watch team, along with members of Bridgwater and Yeovil Fire Stations sped to Creech St Michael to extinguish the fire which had broken out in a field.
The Somerset firefighters joined forces and a used plethora of equipment from the three stations to help put out the fast-spreading blaze.
Local farmers were able to make a fire break to assist the fire crews in their efforts to smother the flames.
A spokesperson for Taunton Fire Station said: "Crews from Green watch and the on-call along with colleagues from Bridgwater Fire Station and Yeovil Fire Station worked hard for a good stop at another standing crop fire in Creech St Michael.
"Crews used beaters, drag forks, and mobile pumps on the L4Ps from Taunton and Bridgwater, and help from local farmers to make a fire break and extinguish the fire."
