Crewkerne-based firm Steatite Batteries have revealed its decision to rebrand with a global identity under the name Custom Power.

This change aims to reflect a strategic alignment with its sister company in the United States, which also operates under the Custom Power brand.

The decision ensures a uniform global identity under its British parent company, Solid State plc, which acquired Steatite in 2016 when it was known as Creasefield Ltd.

Matthew Richards, managing director of Steatite said: "Our decision to rebrand as Custom Power is a reflection of our dedication to providing a seamless experience for our customers worldwide.

"By aligning our branding with Custom Power in the US, we are streamlining our operations and expanding our global presence."

Since its inception 30 years ago, the company has manufactured custom-built battery packs for use in highly demanding environments, and provided employment for hundreds of local residents.

The new brand identity was unveiled on April 4 with local MP, Marcus Fysh, performing the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Included in this transition is eTech Developments, a consultancy and product development business specialising in electrified powertrain components and systems, which was bought by Solid State in 2022.

The rebranding process will start immediately, and all future communications and products will carry the new name and brand identity.
