THE MP for Yeovil said that Tata/JLR coming to Bridgwater is “fantastic news” for Somerset.

MP Marcus Fysh said the move will have a positive impact on jobs and infrastructure.

The MP shared a message on his Twitter account saying: “Fantastic news for Somerset that Tata/JLR are coming to Bridgwater for battery manufacturing.

  • 4,000 direct jobs
  • Many more servicing the site and a massive ongoing skills and innovation boost
  • Better links to and from coming via A358/A303 dualling and grade separating the junctions so South Somerset is 100 per cent part of it

Government investing to make it happen, capitalising on infrastructure upgrades we have led, and helping manufacturers export EVs with domestic content levels that mean tariff exemptions under our trade deals.

 

Bridgwater MP Ian Liddell-Grainger has confirmed that a multi-million-pound e-car battery plant will be built just outside Bridgwater.

He said a deal for Tata, the Indian owner of Jaguar Land Rover, to build the giga-factory on the Gravity site just outside Bridgwater will be formally unveiled tomorrow.

Tata Sons made the announcement today (Wednesday, July 19), although there has been no official confirmation the plant will be built in Bridgwater.
