A CHARD takeaway shop was forced to close after one of its delivery drivers was assaulted.
On April 15, Boss Hogs had to close early after the driver was punched.
Posting on social media, a member of staff said: "Unfortunately, we had to close early this evening because one of our drivers was assaulted whilst delivering tonight. The police are now dealing with the incident."
A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: "We received a call from a delivery driver at about 8.35pm on Saturday 15 April who said they had been assaulted a few minutes before by a man in the Avishayes Road area of Chard.
"They said they had been punched in the face following a verbal dispute. No injury was sustained.
"Enquiries continue. Witnesses are asked to call 101 and quote reference number 522387228."
