CRICKET St Thomas Golf Club has raised funds over the course of the 2022 season to donate to Bowel Cancer UK.
Last years captain Dave Mugridge recently announced that last year the club had raised £8,500 for his charity of choice, Bowel Cancer UK.
He said this was mainly due to the club seniors via raffles, sponsorship, entrance fees and quizzes.
Dave Mugridge handed the cheque to treasurer Keith Blanchflower last week at the golf club.
It was also a busy week for the Seniors at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club which began on Monday when 39 players entered the 2 from 3 yellow ball competition.
The fine weather produced some good scores, but a fine team effort led by Doug Oliver saw his side win by a margin of eight points.
Doug Oliver, James Parkhouse and Rod Young won the competition with 120 points, followed by Brian Marsh, Jerry Blackburn and Mark Haskins in second.
On Wednesday, sunshine greeted the 42 seniors who took part in the 4 ball better ball competition.
By the narrowest of margins, the pairing of Dave Mugridge and Ian Thomas took the honours with a score of five under par, 43 points.
A blustery westerly wind, but bright sunshine made play difficult for the Saint’s Seniors match team in their Knighton Heath trophy first round match against Lyme Regis on Thursday.
Having the home advantage, the Saints proceeded to win the first three games and after a set back at game four, regrouped and a halved match at game seven ensured the win.
