POLICE have moved to assure people they are taking seriously an alleged assault of a woman in a Somerset village.
Police were called to the incident in Limington, near Yeovil, last Thursday afternoon (November 3).
Since then a video relating to the alleged assault has been posted on social media.
Inspector Rachel Clark, of the South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing Team, has now posted on social media giving details of the investigation to date.
She said: "We're aware of a video being circulated on social media showing an alleged assault on a woman near Limington, Yeovil, on Thursday, November 3.
"We received a call at 2.29pm, and two officers attended the scene a short time later.
"We're currently treating the incident as an assault and an investigation is underway.
"Officers will now review all available footage, take statements and carry out all other necessary enquiries.
"We will keep the victim updated on the progress of this investigation."
