A BRIDGWATER songwriter has signed an agreement with a producer to have one his songs included in an upcoming Christmas film.
Marty Davies' song ‘Santa Needs New Boots’ will feature in Christmas At The Holly Day Inn, which is currently in post-production.
He signed contracts with producer Monika Gergelova, co-founder of M and M Productions, earlier this month.
Describing the song – which was released in 2013 – he said: “In the very cold weather I suffer from chilblains and my toes become ‘bright and red like Rudolph's nose’, as I say in the song.
“That, coupled with a pair of my shoes that leaked and let in the wet, and there you have it – the start of a song.”
The single featured on an EP alongside four instrumental tracks, including two karaoke songs for people to sing along to.
The film tells the story of Emma Holly, an executive who quits her job after missing out on a promotion just before Christmas and goes to her father's country inn.
She finds the Holly Day Inn empty and her father lacking his Christmas spirit, and soon finds herself in a battle to save his business.
It stars Anita Dobson, best known for playing Angie Watts in EastEnders; Colin Baker, the sixth incarnation of The Doctor in Doctor Who, and Tamla Kari from The Inbetweeners films.
The film is described as “a family-friendly, multi-generational romantic comedy” and was filmed at several locations in Somerset, including Cheddar Gorge and Mark.
Christmas At The Holly Day Inn is scheduled to be released this year.
