WE'VE got a few more GCSE results round ups to add to our live blog yesterday.
CHILTON Trinity School is celebrating its students’ record achievements following a challenging time in education for all.
The GCSE and vocational results this year highlighted the resilience and ambition of all students with excellent outcomes across the board.
The overall pass rate has increased by 16% from 2019 (the last time there were examinations) and there has been an increase in the overall number of students receiving the highest possible grades in their subjects.
This is bucking the national trend where results have seen an overall decrease this year.
The school is exceptionally proud of all students this year. Some notable achievements have come from Kai Escott, Joe Jewson, Grace Knight, Paige Taylor, Jasmine Wells, Maddie Rowley, Olivia Roberts and Joe and Laurie Newell who achieved a series of 7-9 grades and also Molly Jones, Katie Sanders, Jay Kearle, Megan Huggins and Amelia Curtis who made exceptional progress across all subjects.
Congratulations to these and all students and all those who have not been mentioned.
Headteacher Tom Newell said: “Our students worked incredibly hard and showed ambition, resilience and commitment to achieve these results, especially with the additional challenges that the Covid virus have given to our young people.
“I would also like to extend my thanks to the dedicated team of Chilton Trinity School staff who always set high standards and have provided huge support for our students with everything additional that they have had to contend with over the last few years.
“I would like to wish all students receiving their results today, at Chilton Trinity School and across Bridgwater, every success in whatever they choose next.
"These results show what our students can achieve with ambition, engagement and resilience.
"The 2022 leavers are great role models for the rest of the Chilton Trinity team and they go to their next, exciting, steps with goodwill and best wishes from everyone in the Chilton Trinity community.”
Ryan Payne, head of Year 11 and assistant head, said in a message to the 2022 leavers: “Congratulations! Whatever today has brought remember success is no accident.
“It is hard work, perseverance, learning, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing.
“We are all very proud of you, take care and make yourself proud.”
WADHAM School, in Crewkerne, is delighted to celebrate with its students on publication of the results of their GCSE and other qualifications this summer.
As well as celebrating those who achieved exceptionally high grades, all the students had to deal with enormous pressures in what was a very unsettling time.
This year group had interruptions to their learning in each of the three years they have been at Wadham, from lockdowns and the impact of Covid on themselves and their teachers. They deserve our respect and congratulations.
Matthew Gardner, headteacher, said: “These young people showed resilience, determination and good humour, throughout the last three years.
"This last academic year has been worse for Covid, as our infection rates went up, particularly amongst staff, as restrictions were removed at a national level.
"However, these young people kept going, showing true determination and grit.
"Their grades reflect the effort they have put in and they can be proud that they have achieved these, despite the challenges they faced.
"They can now continue their education journey, either here or elsewhere, knowing they have the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed and everyone at Wadham is very proud of them.”
The incoming new headteacher, Richard Burgas, said: “I am determined to build upon these results, so that Wadham, as it enters its second 50 years, continues to flourish.”
