ST MARGARET’S Hospice Care is encouraging people across Somerset to take part in The Colour Run helping to raise funds for patients across the county facing a life-limiting illness.
The hospice is inviting supporters to throw on their brightest outfits and run, walk, or dance their way around the colourful route at Taunton Racecourse on Saturday, May 14.
On the way round there will be paint stations of colour and supporters will enjoy a paint party at the end.
Sponsorship raised by Colour Run participants will go directly to helping people across the county.
One of those services is aimed at children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent.
Samsara is one of the ways the Family Support Team at the hospice work with children, bringing children from across the county together for two days of art, play and activities, exploring emotions and helping to develop ways of coping to build their resilience.
Families whose children have attended Samsara have fed back to the team that their children found the group to be a very positive experience.
The group is entirely funded by donations which cover the costs of running the group and the team gives their time to volunteer for the group It’s just one of the ways the hospice looks to support children and young people before and after bereavement.
By signing up for the event and asking friends and family to sponsor you could make a difference for families in Somerset.
£30 could pay for books and soft toys that can be used to prepare a child for the loss of someone they love.
Ellie Weston, Marketing & Events Officer at St Margaret’s, said: “We’re really excited to be welcoming our supporters back to The Colour Run after two years of completing the event at home.
“The work our Family Support team does to help bereaved children and young people makes a real difference and I’d encourage anyone who is looking to do something fun this Summer to take part and raise money so we can continue to fund services like Samsara.”
The event is proudly sponsored by Mogers Drewett and Dulux.
Colour Run entry costs £15 for adults and £10 for children.
