A YOUNG motorist from Somerset was clocked driving at twice the speed limit in a 30mph zone.
Benjamin Docherty, 21, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Weymouth Magistrates' Court this week.
The court heard he was caught travelling at 61mph on the A3066 Tunnel Road, in Beaminster, on May 9 last year.
Docherty, of Compton Road, Compton Pauncefoot, near Wincanton, admitted the offence at a previous hearing.
He was ordered to pay a fine of £400 with a victim surcharge of £40 and costs of £110 at this week's hearing.
He was handed six penalty points on his driving licence.
