WILL the weather turn Bonfire Night into a damp squib or will clear skies allow fireworks to be seen in all their glory?

With events happening tonight, Saturday and Sunday the forecast has the power to make or break this weekend’s activities.

Families across the region are wondering whether woolly hats or raincoats will be the optimum wardrobe choice.

Offering their predictions for the big day, the Met Office sheds some light on what to expect.

South West England Bonfire Night weather forecast

This morning, there may be a few showers for Devon and Cornwall first thing but dry in Somerset and elsewhere in the region.

Everywhere should then remain dry for the rest of the day and evening, with a mixture of cloud and bright or sunny spells.

It will be feeling slightly milder with maximum temperature of around 13 °C.

Sadly it’s not looking so hopeful for Saturday. It predicted to be a cloudy and windy yet mild day with rain arriving after dark.

Better news for Sunday though. Although cooler and remaining breezy, it should remain largely dry with bright spells.

So if you celebrating this evening or Sunday, wrap up warm and enjoy the display. For those heading out on Saturday though, don’t forget the waterproofs.
