EMERGENCY: The barn fire at Ilchester on Monday night
THIS was the scene which greeted firefighters during a callout earlier this week.
Crews from Yeovil, Martock and Wincanton were sent to the scene, in Ilchester, at just before 10.30pm on Monday night (August 30).
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said after the incident: "On arrival, the incident commander confirmed a five-bay barn, measuring 25m by 15m containing approx 10 tonnes of hay, (was) well alight.
"Crews began to extinguish the fire using two 45mm jets and one compressed air foam jet.
"Crews removed fertiliser and machinery from the barn to ensure they didn't become involved in fire."
