A SOMERSET hospice which provides care for those with a life-limiting illness has received a cash boost.
The Maximus Foundation UK has awarded St Margaret’s Hospice a grant of £2,500 to continue providing care for patients at bases in Taunton and Yeovil.
The hospice, based in Bishop's Hull, Taunton, offers both inpatient and community care as well as bereavement support and advice for families.
The donation forms part of the Foundation’s dedicated fundraising to help local charities nationwide affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
The grant was awarded via a virtual cheque presentation by a Maximus Foundation trustee.
Maximus Foundation UK is a not-for-profit enterprise committed to supporting charities that have been nominated by Maximus UK employees.
These charities are committed to helping disadvantaged people and make a real difference to people’s lives through health, employment or community development.
In 2020, Maximus Foundation UK awarded grant beneficiaries totalling £95,000.
Di Briggs, chair of Maximus Foundation UK, said: “Many small charities across the UK face the challenge of resuming their normal activities after a very difficult period.
"So we’re delighted to help St Margaret’s Hospice to continue their excellent work providing specialised care in the Somerset area.”
Samantha Mahon, trust and major gift officer at St Margaret’s, said: “We are delighted that the Maximus Foundation UK has provided this donation, which will help fund St Margaret’s to continue providing care and support to patients facing a life-limiting illness and their families.
"The donation could fund around 25 home visits to patients from our specialist nurses. It could also fund 100 hours of helpline support for family members in the Somerset area.”
