A BUILDERS' merchant with several outlets in Somerset has warned of hefty prices from Tuesday.
Travis Perkins, which has stores in Taunton, Bridgwater, Shepton Mallet, Cheddar, Wincanton and Dulverton, is set to up its price of bagged cement by 15 per cent, chipboard by 10 per cent and paint by five per cent.
The reason behind the increases is being blamed on a surge in demand since the easing of lockdown and supply chain issues.
Travis Perkins has informed customers with announcements in its stores, online and in e-mails.
The price hikes will also be introduced by Travis Perkins' other brand, such as Keyline and BSS>
A spokesperson said: "In instances where we have seen some challenges posed by global demand for raw materials or inflationary pressures, we continue to work closely with our suppliers and partners to minimise price increases where possible, whilst also ensuring healthy stock availability for all of our customers."
