A CASH machine was broken into in Ilminster during the early hours of this morning (April 22).
The Ilminster fire crews were called to the incident at 3.11am.
Witnesses say there was a "loud explosion" near the Co-op cash machine and there was fire on the pavement.
"The fire was out on our arrival," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
"The fire crew checked the area using a thermal imaging camera and then cordoned off the area ready for the arrival of the police.
"We left the scene at 4.00am."
Avon and Somerset Police have been contacted for comment.
