THE B3168 Puckington Road, at Barrington, will be closed for 19 days while highways teams undertake key drainage improvement works.
The Somerset County Council workers are taking advantage of the upcoming Easter holiday to start the work on Tuesday (April 6).
The work should be completed on April 30.
The road will be closed to all traffic during these dates, except for residents within the closure, and a signed diversion route will be in place.
Another important drainage scheme will also be undertaken on the B3168.
The second scheme, on the B3168 Ilford Bridges Road at Ilton gets underway on May 4 for 15 days.
The road needs to close to all traffic until May 19.
Access will be maintained throughout for residents within the closure. Again, a signed diversion route will be in place.
A Somerset County Council spokesperson said: "The work will improve drainage on the roads, which are part of the county’s precautionary gritting network, and help to reduce the formation of ice during cold weather next winter.
"Both works will understandably cause some disruption but it’s crucial they are undertaken to ensure the safety of road users."
