A PRIMARY school near Chard are pleading with dog owners to “take the waste home” with them - and not leave dog mess outside the school, or in their bins.
Winsham Primary School, in Winsham, have had dog foul “continuously” left outside their school field gate or disposed of in their blue recycling bin.
Sarah Dobson, senior teacher at the school, said the staff can pick up as many as seven bags of dog poo after a weekend.
“Children of Winsham School have been subject to dog foul continuously being left outside their school field gate or being disposed of in their blue recycling bin,” she said.
“Free poo bags have been placed outside and have been a key feature from Winsham Parish Council for the last two years but the mess continues to be left in plain sight.”
Deciding to take measures into their own hands, the school have put a sign on their recycling bin.
The sign is asking dog owners to take their dog waste home and not put the bags in the bin, or leave them near the school.
