A POPULAR event is set to go ahead this year in Ilminster.
The Ilminster Midsummer Experience 2021 (IMEx) will take place from June 24 until June 27 - two weeks later than normal due to coronavirus restrictions.
Michael Fry-Foley, chairman of Experience Ilminster CIC, said public safety is the organisers top priority this year.
“We believe that it is right to re-schedule IMEx taking account of current Government regulations,” he said.
“However, we are fully aware that this may have to change as we approach the new date, depending on the situation at the time.
“I can re-assure everyone that public safety is our top priority.
“IMEx may be a slimmed down version of previous years but I am hopeful that there will be an Ilminster Midsummer Experience for everyone to enjoy this year. “
The food and craft market in Silver Street and the Whitelackington Art Show will be held on Saturday, June 26.
On the recreation ground, on June 27, there will be the classic vehicle show, the family dog show, community lunch, the food court, the children’s fun fair as well as some musical entertainment during the day.
There will also be the scarecrow competition, the strolling garage sale, as well as the history trail and three peaks walk.
It is also anticipated that many venues in and around the town will be showcasing what they offer as well.
The famous Ilminster Flag Festival will be extended this year and run from May 31 until July 4.
