“Our Chard store is due to open in June 2021," said a spokesperson for Home Bargains.
"As such, we will soon be recruiting for store supervisors, store assistants and store cleaners, and would encourage those interested to keep an eye on our careers website for roles being advertised.”
Cllr Dave Bulmer from Chard Town Council said he hopes Home Bargains will make Chard a "better place to shop" and is pleased to welcome the new store to the town.
“Since the initial Lidl application to move to Tapstone Road, I was aware of the strong desire for Home Bargains to fill the vacant store in Boden Street," he said.
"I encouraged for that to happen at the time realising that it was essential for the economic vitality and viability of the Town Centre to have the Boden Street store site trading as a retail unit.
"I also realised the importance of having both Lidl , and Home Bargains in our town.
"With both these stores being growing national retailers, I would hope that this will contribute to making Chard a better place to shop for our community.
"I have received some positive comments on the quality of retail options that Home Bargains has to offer our community.
"There is also the very important matter that they will be creating a number of jobs for local people at a time when every job opportunity is vital to not only the successful applicant but also the local economy."
