A MAN in Yeovil was given a community order after he assaulted a police officer.
Lee James Brown, 26, from Hillcrest Road in Yeovil, was drunk, disorderly and threatening or abusive towards a police officer last September.
At Yeovil Magistrates' Court, he was given a community order, which consists of 80 hours unpaid work within the next year.
He also had to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
The day after this offence, he assaulted a different police officer by beating them. He was given another 80 hours unpaid work over the next year, and asked to pay £50 in compensation to the officer.
Brown pleaded guilty to both offences.
A woman also appeared at Yeovil Magstrates' Court after she assaulted someone at Yeovil Hospital.
Paris Ridley-Brown, 27, of Russet Road in Somerton, assaulted Samantha Fear in December and was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
She also had to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. Ms Ridley-Brown pleaded guilty to the offence.
A man from Shepton Mallet was fined £120 after he was caught drink driving in Wells.
Andrew Graham Carter, 57, from Walnut Grove, drunk drove last October and pleaded guilty in court.
As well as the fine, he has to pay a £34 victim surcharge, £85 costs and is disqualified from driving for 14 months.
