A CHARITY has launched an online shop on Depop after all seven stores were forced to close due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Newlife - which has a pop-up store in the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil - is using the online fashion market place to raise funds to keep it running.
The charity raises money for equipment to help disabled and terminally-ill children.
Sheila Brown OBE, CEO and co-founder, said: “We are so excited to launch on Depop and to offer designer clothes at bargain prices.
“This is sustainable fashion at its best and we have had a great response so far – there really is something for everyone.
“We are having to change our business to meet the times we live in and this means, even though our stores are closed, we can still offer valuable help to vulnerable children.”
The Depop store sells designer brands such as Givenchy, Moschino and Gucci alongside items from more mainstream brands like Fila and Converse.
Newlife has other stores in Cannock, Staffordshire; Market Drayton, Shropshire; Birmingham; Heanor in Derbyshire and Wirral.
The charity already sells items on eBay and has a click and collect service for homewares in Staffordshire.
Sheila said the eBay platform launched around four years ago and had helped to bring in vital funds during the initial lockdown in 2020, but something else needed to be done to help the charity's income.
