A KITCHEN was left damaged after a fire in a Somerset village. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called at 10.40pm on Thursday (January 14) to reports of a smell of burning at a property off Pound Lane in Yarcombe.
One crew from Chard was sent to the scene.
But when firefighters arrived there was no obvious sign of fire internally or externally and the crew started to investigate.
At 11.6pm crews confirmed there was a small fire in the kitchen cupboard next to the cooker and got to work to remove the cupboard.
At 11.33pm firefighters confirmed that there was fire damage to 50 per cent of the unit with slight smoke damage to the kitchen and light damage to the rest of the property.
The crew used one hose reel, a thermal image camera, a CO2 monitor and small tools to extinguish the fire.
