SHOPPERS with an eye for a bargain will be able to grab designer fashion at knockdown prices this Christmas while helping a charity to support disabled children in need, when a new clothing store opens in Somerset next month.
Newlife is bringing its unique retail operation to Yeovil - moving into the former River Island shop in Vicarage Walk - with an opening date to be announced soon.
The store, which is to operate as a pop-up shop for one year, will be open to shoppers from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and between 10am and 4pm on Sunday.
The Newlife store will sell men's and women's clothing, accessories and homeware that have been donated from designer labels and high street retailers at reduced prices.
Newlife receives donations of high street fashion from designer labels including River Island, Ted Baker, Superdry, Kurt Geiger, M&S and more.
In total, more than 240 leading retailers and manufacturers donate surplus items, faulty products and customer returns to Newlife, which prevents them from ending up dumped in landfill.
Limited, safe and reduced measures will be in place to insure that the store is Covid-19 secure and in line with UK government guidelines.
Social distancing measures and extra aisle space will be introduced to protect both customers and staff.
A recruitment drive is under way, with three full-time roles up for grabs until Friday, November 27, namely store manager, deputy store manager and sales assistant roles.
Shopping at the store will support the Newlife charity in its effort to provide life-changing support to disabled children who desperately need specialist equipment.
Harjinder Samra, deputy commercial director at Newlife, said: “We’re so excited to be expanding our retail operation and opening our new Newlife store to shoppers in Yeovil in December.
“The pop-up shop will give our loyal customers the chance to pick up great quality clothing and other items at bargain prices ahead of the Christmas rush.
“Shopping in the store will mean the charity can be there for disabled children who need vital support - we all hope to see you there.”
As well as working to providing equipment for disabled children, Newlife also operates a nurse-run helpline and contributes to changes in local and national policies on the provision of equipment for disabled children.
The Yeovil outlet will be Newlife’s eighth store currently trading, with other shops operating in the likes of Cannock, Staffordshire, Moreton, Wirral and Yardley, Birmingham.
