SOMERSET’S elderly remain in lockdown as the most vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic.
But care home staff across the county are working hard to keep them entertained and connnected.
At Oak Lodge care home, in Chard, residents enjoyed a live stream concert titled ‘we’ll meet again’.
The show was put on by local singer Bethany Goodman, who has previously been a regular visitor to the home.
Wayne Rooney, activities co-ordinator at Oak Lodge, said: “The online event went amazingly well with all the residents singing along with all the old time Vera Lynn songs.
“There was lots of flag waving and a few teary eyes towards the end.
“Beth had good rapport with the audience despite being at home.”
Residents of Oak Lodge have also received letters from pupils at Manor Court primary school, and signed a rainbow board to honour the UK’s health service.
