THE opening date and time for Chard's new Lidl store have officially been confirmed.
The supermarket, in Tapstone Road, will open its doors to customers at 8am on Thursday, November 21, replacing its existing store on Boden Street.
The new supermarket forms part of the company’s ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK which will see it open up to 50 new stores a year.
The sales area of the supermarket has increased in size to 1,325m² and facilities including a bakery, customer toilets, baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles. Up to 20 new jobs have also been created for the local community.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Matthias Daly, commented: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in improving our Lidl store in Chard. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community once again.”
Customers are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8am and will be offered the chance to sample some of Lidl’s award winning products throughout the day.
The Boden Street store will officially cease trading when it closes the night before (November 20), a spokesman added.
The German supermarket giant has also promised exclusive deals and offers on selected products for the first week of opening.
These include a hammer drill (£19.99, RRP £39.99), a suitcase (£29.99, RRP £49.99) from Friday 22nd November and hot air fryer (£19.99, RRP £39.99) from Saturday 23rd November.
Lidl GB has experienced continued growth over the years.
The latest Kantar Worldpanel results highlighted Lidl’s increased sales year on year and market share high of six per cent.
