CHARD Town have opted not to appeal against their relegation from the Toolstation Western League, following the club's AGM on Tuesday night.
The Robins' 43-year stay in the Western League has come to an end, after the Football Association ruled their sloping pitch does not meet the criteria to play at Step 6 of the national pyramid.
A demotion to Step 7 would mean playing in the Somerset County League next season, most likely joining neighbours Ilminster Town in the Premier Division.

A club statement released on Monday confirmed that the club was to be relegated "following a meeting of the FA’s Leagues Committee, and has been given seven days to make an appeal."
The club held its AGM last night but, speaking to the Chard & Ilminster News, chairman Lyndsey Gage confirmed that an appeal would not be made, and the club will look to “rebuild from Step 7”.
Manager Jamie Manley and assistant Kevin Leigh have departed, leaving a vacancy for the 2019/20 season.
The closing date for applications is 7pm on Tuesday, June 4; those interested should contact Lyndsey Gage via chardtownfcchairman@outlook.com or 07854 372712.
