RESIDENTS in an area of Chard are being advised to keep their windows closed due to a large scrap car fire.
Fire crews were called to Beeching Close at around 12.17pm today (Saturday) to reports of a "large commercial fire".
One 999 call said there were around 30 vehicles ablaze.
Everybody has been accounted for and firefighters are busy trying to contain the blaze.
Fire engines have been sent from Axminster, Ilminster, Taunton, Charmouth and Chard, along with a water bowser from Yeovil, incident command unit from Honiton and numerous fire officers.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "All residents in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed and anyone driving should avoid the Furnham area of Chard at this time."
