INSTEAD of the evening meeting on June 14, members enjoyed a coach outing to the Garden House at Buckland Monachorum, near Yelverton.
Over 40 people went to the hillside terraced gardens, with its profusion of wild flowers and collection of trees and shrubs. An old tower in the walled garden gave good views over the gardens, and the dovecote proved another interesting feature. Part of the garden had been a slate quarry and much use was made of slates as borders. There are also far reaching views.
The next meeting will take place this Thursday evening (July 12) at 7.30pm in the English Martyrs Hall. A speaker from the Gold Club' will talk about conservatory and greenhouse plants.
