THE Ilminster bypass will be closed for a month this summer, the Highways Agency confirmed this week.
The A303 between Ilminster and South Petherton will be closed in stages around late August and early September so streetlights can be replaced.
The road will first be closed eastbound for two weeks and then westbound for a further fortnight.
It is likely to be closed between 9pm-5am to minimise disruption.
Highways Agency spokesman Robin Miller said: "Details are yet to be sorted out but it will be closed Monday to Friday only, not at weekends.
"It's mainly to replace streetlights, but we will also be doing road maintenance and surfacing, and repainting white lines."
