FOR just a minute last Tuesday, it was hard to see more than 300 children gathered in the playground at Chard's Redstart Primary School.

At precisely 11am, the whole playground was a blur of bubbles as some 340 children and adults, plus youngsters from the early years centre, blew the school into the record books.

Redstart joined hundreds of schools nationwide for a unique attempt at bursting the record for the most people blowing bubbles at the same time.

The bubble maker Gazillion Bubbles organised the event and is still totting up the final total, which it expects to exceed 40,000 people.

Redstart teaching assistant Karen Stainton said: "It was really fun. The children really enjoyed it and they got to take their bubbles home afterwards."
