TEENAGERS with dreams of emulating directorial greats like Stephen Spielberg will have a chance to showcase their visions at an event on July 17.

Young people aged 13-19 could land one of eight Big Media Bursary Awards by pitching their film ideas to the Young People's Film Council at Bridgwater's Engine Room.

The pitching session runs from 7.30-9pm, but beforehand, from 4-7pm, a professional filmmaker will be on hand, giving hints on how to impress the council, which is itself comprised of aspiring teenage filmmakers.

If your idea is a hit with the panel, you could land a bursary to make a short film, with help from a professional filmmaker and a small budget for equipment hire.

Finished films will also be broadcast at the Young People's Film Festival in Somerset early next year.
