TWO women from the Chard and Ilminster area were ordained as Church of England deacons at a ceremony in Wells Cathedral on Sunday.
Valerie Hoare from Combe St Nicholas and Deidre Fyfe fom Seavington were ordained by the Bishop of Taunton, the Rt Rev Peter Maurice.
Rev Hoare will be assistant curate at St Mary's Church, Chard, while Rev Fyfe will be assistant curate at St Peter and St Paul's Church, South Petherton, and at St Michael's Church, in Seavington St Mary.
