POSTAL workers throughout South Somerset are today (Friday, June 29) taking part in the first postal strike in 11 years.
Mail is being left in delivery offices as workers strike over Royal Mail modernisation plans.
The Communication Workers Union, which is organising the strike, says the Royal Mail is intent on cutting services, jobs and posties' pay.
The Royal Mail accuses the CWU of failing to realise how damaging strike action will be.
The 24-hour strike will end tomorrow when early shift workers arrive at delivery offices.
