THE old adage "The Show Must Go On" can never have been more apt than for a singing group who perform in Ilminster next Saturday, July 7.
Two members of Back to Broadway are lucky to be alive, let alone able to perform at the town's Warehouse Theatre, after surviving a horrific motorway crash last week.
Steve Liddle and Jessica Ball, both 19, were involved in a three-car pile-up on the M50 in Herefordshire last week after a deer ran into their path. Both escaped with minor injuries.
Steve, the group's musical director, said: "It was horrific. I swerved to avoid the deer, then my manager, who was travelling behind me, ploughed into my car, followed by the car Jessica was riding in.
"Thank goodness I managed to jump out of the car before it was hit as it was practically reduced to matchsticks. Jessica and I feel really lucky to be here after what happened."
Despite their ordeal, Back to Broadway are ready to perform show-stopping numbers from Broadway and West End musicals, including Les Miserables, The Lion King and Wicked.
Tickets are available by phoning Brenda Lake on 01460-249304 during office hours, or from Minster Pharmacy, in Silver Street, Ilminster - telephone 01460-52712.
