ILMINSTER Mayor Carol Goodall will be taking part in a meeting on Wednesday to discuss how the town can become more green.
Cllr Goodall will be taking part in the South Somerset Climate Action meeting, which aims to emphasise the need to make the town plan green.
Joe Burlington, member of the town's climate group, thinks it is important for the town council to be involved in meetings and be aware of the major issues.
He said: "Climate change is with us and higher fuel prices are widely predicted. Yet, these challenges are not mentioned in Ilminster's draft Strategic Vision.
"To their credit, the town council was making plans long before these issues were prominent and rightly, it is now seeking feedback."
The meeting will also look at how Ilminster could become more energy efficient and will assess possible ideas.
Joe added: "Many continental towns generate their own electricity and use the spare heat to warm local buildings, known as combined heat and power (CHP), the system is much more efficient than traditional UK power stations that pump heat into cooling towers.
"The Ilminster 'Horlicks' site looks ideal for a CHP system."
After the Mayor's introduction the group will discuss photographs and the main points before breaking into groups to discuss what needs to be changed, and what could be done in the present political and economic climate.
The meeting will be held tonight from 7.30pm in the Minster Rooms in Ilminster.
