WOULD-BE racers in Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne are being warned they could have a long walk home if caught by police.
Two cars were seized by police in Taunton this week after their drivers were caught racing.
One driver had his Volkswagen Golf seized after being caught racing on the Toneway on Tuesday night (June 19), with another motorist loosing his car on Wednesday when he was one of three caught racing in the town.
Insp Barry Thomas, based at Taunton's road policing unit, said: "These cases go to show that officers will not hesitate to make use of the powers we have to immediately seize vehicles from people caught driving dangerously, carelessly or inconsiderately.
"Across the force, we have seized 54 vehicles in the past ten months, all from people who have been officially warned, but failed to heed that warning.
"Racing in this way is totally reckless and the speed and way in which they are driving means they are not only risking their own lives, but are also putting other people in danger."
