ILMINSTER Lions Club hope to have raised around £3,000 during its 23rd annual fete on Saturday at Swanmead School.
In addition to the many car booters, charity and trade stalls, there was a lot going on in the arena to appeal to all the family.
Entertainment was provided by the Trojan Twirlers, Greenfylde School maypole dancers, Wessex Owls, Stu-Art, the Skintight samba band, belly dancing by the Desert Divas and demonstrations from Ilminster Martial Arts Club.
Club president Martin Smith said: "This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary from when the club was first formed.
"During that period we have raised in the region of £250,000, a staggering sum, for a variety of good causes.
"In addition, many hours of community service have been carried out in the area. None of this would have been possible without the support of local businesses and the people of Ilminster, for which we are extremely grateful."
Although mid-morning rain in Ilminster caused a certain amount of anxiety about what the weather might do in the afternoon, the sun came out in the afternoon and a large crowd attended the fete.
The Lions would like to thank the Army Training Cadets, Swanmead School, Britannia Construction Company, St John's Ambulance, members of Ilminster Rotary Club and the wives of Lions Club members for their help with the fete. A Mr Lecocq went away a happy man after winning the first prize in the draw.
