AN APPLICATION to build five houses in the grounds of the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster has been made to South Somerset District Council's planning department.

This is an amended application, submitted by agent's Turner Holden White Young Green, after the original plans were withdrawn last July.

The site, along Station road, is at the southern end of the hotel and will include a four bedroom detached, a four bedroom semi detached and three, three bedroom houses with two parking spaces for each.

Plans aim to comply with the surrounding conservation area with the houses to be built from ham stone with timber windows and natural slate roofs, all to be sourced from around the area.

The council will now wait for feedback from people in the area to help assess the proposal.
