PLANS for a state of the art gym facility in Chard are gathering speed with the lease of a new site now official.
Phoenix Fitness, currently in Millfield Close in the town, is due to move to a bigger site at the old Ford service centre on Fore Street.
Owner Simon Lunn signed the final lease last week and hopes the gym will be ready for action sometime around September.
He said: "We've been waiting for the move for a long time and are really looking forward to it.
"It will mean we can offer people in Chard the kind of health club a town this size deserves."
The new site will be in walking distance from the town centre and Simon hopes it will encourage more people to get fit and stay healthy.
He added: "It will be easier to get to and mean we can offer more facilities and classes for all abilities.
"The new gym will have air conditioning, a possible woman's only training area, as well as still offering the nutritional advice and personal training service we do now."
Building work is set to start shortly on the site, which will have full secure parking facilities.
