A SCHEME to build three houses behind a Chard hotel should be refused on access grounds, district planners will be told at a meeting on Wednesday.
A report for South Somerset District Council's Area West Committee argues cars would struggle to access the two-bedroom coach houses planned for land behind The Bellplot Hotel.
The houses would have shared access with the hotel and planning officer Steven Banks agrees with Somerset County Council's highways department that this would cause problems with access and parking.
The highways department says: "There are significant concerns that the parking facilities that will need to be provided to serve the proposed dwellings will compromise the total parking spaces made available to the hotel and as a result, vehicles may be encouraged to park on the public highway."
At Crowshute House, Chard, committee members will vote whether to back Mr Banks' recommendation to reject the scheme.
