SUFFERING people in African countries will benefit from a former Chard woman's 70th birthday celebrations last week.
Rather than accept traditional gifts last Sunday, Sue Lancashire, formerly of Forton Road but now living in Lyme Regis, asked for donations to help homeless people and those dying of Aids and other diseases in Uganda and surrounding nations.
Sue, a parishioner at South Chard Church, was joined by 75 church members, family and friends, for a praise party where donations were received to support ministries in Africa linked to the church.
Sue was among a team of six from the church who visited Uganda in February to view the ministries' work.
