WORKERS at west Hatch RSPCA centre near Taunton are appealing for homes for a selection of unlucky animals.

The animals, which include 11 rabbits a dog and a cat, have been at the centre for quite some time and staff are desperate to find them new homes.

Animals include: Nic, a 12-year-old black and white domestic shorthaired cat, has been at the centre since 2005.

Nic's problem finding a home is mainly due to her preferring other cats to humans.

Nic enjoys it when she has a playful next-door-pen neighbour.

She interacts with them through the glass and they tap paws at each other.

Sadly though she has seen so many of these neighbours come in and go to their new homes but she still waits for hers.

Nic has had a lot of socialisation and staff are at the point where they can stroke and handle her without too much stress.

This is helpful because it means when she goes home, it will be easier for her to settle. Through no fault of her own she has ended up like this but she still deserves as much of a chance of happiness as any other cat.

Zak, a 5 year old wirehaired Lurcher: Zak has been at the centre for a number of months, originally being neglected and rescued by one of our inspectors.

He was thin and had hardly any fur on his back.

His fur has all grown back and he looks very handsome!

He is happy around other dogs, preferably female, and really enjoys playing in our field.

Zak could do with a home where the owners are patient and preferably around a lot of the day.

He can cope with being left for a couple of hours but may pine if left for longer.

Staff can advise on how to cope with separation anxiety and suggest activities to keep him occupied for the times you need to pop out.

Being a Lurcher, he is better suited to a home without cats or rabbits!

He enjoys short bursts of sprinting and needs little-and-often exercise time.

Doris the rabbit: Doris prefers human company to that of other rabbits.

She will actually instigate fuss and is anyone's friend for a bit of hay or handful of greens.

Doris had a bit of a sad story, she had a small stroke which has led to her having a small head tilt but no other health issues have resulted from this.

Doris would really like a home to retire to where she will have plenty of attention.
