CHILDREN from Neroche Primary School, Broadway, became film stars for a day for an anti-litter campaign on Tuesday.

Year five pupils were filmed by the Somerset Waste Action Partnership for a short video.

Neroche was one of six primary schools in Somerset selected for the SWAP campaign after judges were impressed by a storyboard created by pupils depicting a devil and angel theme.

In the film, a child drops some litter and is encouraged by a wicked devil to leave it on the floor before a kind angel pleads that the rubbish should be put in a bin.

Rupert Farthing, of SWAP, said: "We've done poster campaigns in the past but we wanted to do something different this year.

"We really liked the devils and angels. We thought it was really imaginative."

Teacher Philip Edwards said: "As a school we are always looking at environmental issues and we were very excited to get through to the next round of the competition.

"It's been very exciting for the children who have been filmed."

The children's video will soon be posted on the website www.recyclesomerset.info, and on July 9, they will be invited to a celebration event at the Exchange Conference Centre in Bridgwater where first, second and third prizes will be announced.
